Does anyone know how to look up pricing for apts that sold prior to 2004...ie not listed on streeteasy...

Condos: use Acris and divide the transfer tax by .004

Coops: not public record.

how does streeteasy get coop info from 2004......why arent they able to go further back?

Mhillqt, SE is entirely dependent on ACRIS for prices, so nothing here before 2004. As 30yrs said, you can get condo prices by finding the deed and calculating from the NYS RE tax. It's on a form scanned along with the deed.

I think the city didn't enter sales prices into a database before 2004, and when scanning the older docs didn't have the money to pay people to read them and find the prices. Or something like that.

If you are interested in purchasing in a building and have an accepted offer...do the companies that manage the buildings have the info on sales prices prior to 2004 while you are in discovery phase with your lawyer?
