Removing fabric wall covering

Does anyone have experience removing fabric that has been applied over some cushioning material on walls? What technique worked best? How bad off were the walls after the fabric was removed? thanks

it all depends on how the cushioning material was applied to the walls. if they did it "right", then the fabric is stapled/nailed on the outer edges and the cushioning is held up by it. your walls will be whatever they were. if they glued the cushioning to the walls prior to putting the fabric over, this can turn into a nightmare.
