Discussion about
Are doormen good contacts for information about possible apartments that will be coming on the market in their buildings?

some of the best. if they are willing and able to share, which they may not be in top buildings.

ah, we disagree? i'd heard, particularly for rentals, that they could be your god. for the top buildings, in normal times, you'd get nothing.

while i do not agree with the methodology- they do have a lot of inside info on what is going on in the building. and they are willing to blab!

Doormen are more likely to be helpful about which units are currently available. In rental buildings this can be key since some managing agents don't advertise. Asking them who is soon to die and whether the ailing octogenarian has a good floor plan is less likely to yield results.

Apologies -- I assumed (for no good reason) that the question was about sales. For rental 411, yes.
