Discussion about
Is there any data on: - how many families were actually placed outside of their zone for the 09/10 school year? - What zones have experienced the most displacement? Is this an actual issue or more of the exception, not the rule? Thanks!
There was speculation that this would happen on the UWS (district 3). As far as I have been able to ascertain, everyone got into their zoned school. In addition, siblings who now live out of zone have (rumor only) all been
placed in their siblings' school.
Next year should be interesting. PS199 has 8 K classes this year, and PS87 has 9(?) K classes. This is unsustainable, so next year is shaping up to be the year to watch.
The baby boom has also abated with the recession/depression although that doesn't stop the fewer remaining children all moving to desirable school districts.
nyc10023, what are your thoughts on PS199?
