I've never been to one, but I certainly would not ask "what do these meetupe entail?" i sort of think that if you ask that question, you probably don't want to (or shouldn't( be there.

Well, usually everyone gives blood, and if enough people show up the NYC RE market can be brought back to life.

No, wait: people drop their house keys in a bowl when they arrive, have a few drinks, and then take different keys when they leave and have to find the NYC apartments they belong to. Keys are marked by borough, so that makes things a little bit easier.

Everyone drinks Sam Adams and hates on Fort Greene.

Damn, I'll be out of town that night. I bet the gathering would be fun.

Next time, how about we all meet at some scheduled open house, somewhere that's slashed its ask by 40%? We could play "Guess who's an SE poster?"

Hey ph41 how would I know if I don't want to be there if I've never been to one before?

P.S. your first post here "No idea - pick a place" makes it pretty evident that you are useless to your fellow man. How about we have this meetup in that empty space you call your head, there will be a maximum occupancy of 500 people though.

I think it would be more fun if we just did a BYOB, picked a random Open House on Sunday, 9/27 and all showed up between .... say noon and 2pm. The actual prospects would probably love that a few drunks are wondering around trying to figure out who is Jerkstore, who is happyrenter .....

Since we now learn the "school obligation" impacts quite a few members of the SE community would it not be wise to reschedule? Are we on the hook for a reservation/commitment? Or can we just send out an emergency postponment. I know we will never be able to reach 100% alignment on a convenient day but if this doesn't work for a great many people due to an "indisputable obligation", maybe we should rethink it.

10023, you have some definite takers. sorry i can't be there at the start, but i'm betting cccharley and UD will give you some great conversation until others arrive, and starting at 8 means more can arrive early, so to speak. btw, did you respond to Noah? he's willing to post the event on UD. something to consider.

what i found to be quite lovely at the last gathering is that we had people who had only posted rarely, who came to talk and meet. they read, and they listen, but they don't necessarily post that often. and they hopefully will show up again (wishhouse and jfritz i'm talking to you and yours.)

ar - exactly. 10023 - doesn't sound like you have any l&d problems, though, from what doc says, better chances of progressing well if baby is small (rather than large). My #1 was breech c/s. I'll just be happy to l & d, even if it takes me days ;)
