Discussion about
Just sick. More proof that Manhattan crime has spiraled out of control, and that liberals can't keep us safe from these low-life scumbags. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2009/09/20/2009-09-20_housekeeper.html

So very sad. Nothing can protect us from this kind of crime.

We don't know the details, but this tragedy reminded me of something I learned traveling for years as a woman alone:

Most people will let any hotel employee in their room without hesitation, but DON'T DO IT.

If ever an employee, or "employee," shows up unannounced at your hotel room, do NOT open the door. Instead, call the front desk and say the employee is there and you want to know if this person was sent by the hotel, and if so for what purpose. If they were posers they'll be gone before you hang up the phone.

Good hotels don't send their employees without calling first.

{Manhattan real estate agent.}

Always funny to see Rufus popping up again. How's Chicago treating you, Rufie?

sickest is that the op, not seriously comcerned re the crime, is using this poor waoman's plight as fodder for some a completely contrived attack on "liberals"

sad

Sounds like this a**hole 'housekeeper' likely had a key to the victim's apartment. I wouldn't use this as an example to illustrate 'out-of-control' crime, though--this sort of sh*t can (and does) happen anywhere. All it takes is one deranged nut with an obsession.

Fluter, that is good advice, but in this case the employee used a key to attack her at 6AM. She was probably asleep. Always put the deadbolt/chain before you sleep.

The ABC website said she was naked on the kitchen floor but beyond that, who knows what happened? She was a Dubai businesswoman, I understand, & it is a very sad, shocking situation.

This is a terrible crime...but claiming that Manhattan has "spiraled out of control" is complete nonsense. Murder is down 30% this year.

it's rufus. do a search for rufie, or psychocrackerboy, for some low-brow entertainment.
