This is a wretched building. -Management is unresponsive. -Building super is abusive and unprofessional. -It is overcrowded. -It often takes 15-20 minutes to get out of the building due to elevators. -Hallways and most elevators aren't air-conditioned. -Hallways are dimly lit. -No direct access to laundry. You have to take elevator to 3rd floor and then walk down a flight of stairs to 2nd floor. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS BUILDING. YOU WILL REGRET IT A MONTH AFTER TAKING THE SPACE.

I live her, and I've seen massive complaints online about the building which I feel are a bit extreme.

It is noisy. No question. Amsterdam is a very busy, horn & siren filled street. And the construction sucks, but you can't really fault the building for that.

The doormen have always been nice to me, and I have no complaints.

You need air conditioning in your elevators? Wow.

My hallway is perfectly lit, and I've never had an issue with it being too hot.

I do agree that the elevators take very long, and the super is an absolute abrasive jerk. Any discussion, no matter how it begins, spirals into him getting defensive and nasty. He's horrible. I really think that the majority of negative feelings regarding this building online are solely because of him.

I also agree that the laundry situation is annoying.

On the good end. The location is great. It's close to soo much. The apartments are big and with walk-in closets.

Yes, there are rubs, but it's also about 20% less expensive than comparable apartments in the same area. The management company apparently realizes that since they don't want to upgrade the soundproofing, elevators, and get rid of that idiot building manager, that they have to heavily discount the price - and they've done so.

That's why it's priced cheaper than comps in the area.

Note, they are less expensive because it is a rent stabilized building and the price is controlled and allowed according to parameters set out for rent stabilized buildings. (not sure by whom - some arm of the city, I suppose). What is up with the super? And, why don't they get rid of him. All the surrounding upscale buildings are aware of the lower caliber of this building. It has a high turnover rate as well.

I've been living here for about a year and I love it. Like the first comment, I wish that there was air conditioning in the hallways and elevators (Which do sometimes take a long time to come, but in the year I've lived here, I can count on my hands the amount of times it's taken 10 minutes or more. Most of the time, they're very responsive.).

The super is a jerk, but the building is well-maintained. You can't beat the friendliness and responsiveness of the doormen nor can you beat the location. It's one block from the 1 Train and 4 blocks from the express train. It's steps from 2 movie theaters, 2 grocery stores, 2 parks, and plenty of shopping and restaurants.

The building also has an outdoor area with a waterfall and benches, which is a nice bonus. The one thing it doesn't have (even though a lot of the listings say that it does) is a gym.

Regarding the noise: the walls BETWEEN the apartments aren't thin, just the walls lining the hallway and the windows. I never hear what is going on above, below, or next to me. When I'm in my apartment, I sometimes hear people in the hallway, but not often. When you're in the hallway, you're more likely to hear conversations and music coming from your neighbors' apartments since those walls are thinner. The window panes need to be soundproofed. The building is a couple of blocks from a fire station and sometimes I have to pause my tv until the fire engines pass.

All in all, the pros outweigh the cons and Tower 67 is a great place to live.

I have lived in this building for 13 years, and it has become unbearable. The management company is unresponsive, the elevators are constantly broken or are slow to move, the apartments are drafty and cold, the heating and ac units are designed very poorly. The building manager does not respond to emails or letters.
The park area outside is nice, however, it provides a perfect environment for homeless and drug addicts to use the facilities at night. There are several incidents a month where we are awoken from a sound sleep because of fighting in these areas.
I would avoid living at Tower 67 . This is not the place that it was.
