a 12-step program might be appropriate. glad to see the priorities are in the right place jm. may need to rename you jmF.
wtf do people do with a $657 purse?
JM $657 is rather a MODERATE price for a purse...gets you a large Cole Haan or small LV bag. The truly "impressive" carry alls with the "right" labels (LV, Gucci, Prada, Marc Jacobs etc) are well above the four figure mark and the famous (infamous?) Hermes Birkin bag is, I believe, close to $5K).
One of the reasons I didn't want to move back to the West Village: three places within a block of my apartment selling four-figure purses and not one selling a quart of milk.
liz, isn't there a resourceful capitalist who is renting high-end bags? you rent them, and then, because of course it isn't done to use the same bag more than a few times, you swap them in and get new ones.

Oh what Carrie Bradshaw and friends wrought. We had a standard joke at work trying to guess which 25 year old staffer's Gucci bag was rented, bought on Canal Street or a gift from Daddy (we liked to think we wouldn't hire someone ridiculous enough to spend that kind of money on a bag given their entry level salaries).
"Hermes Birkin bag is, I believe, close to $5K"
I'll take as many of those for less than $5k as I can get my hands on. As far as I know, they go from about $8K to about $40K
