http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/rental/474469-rental-80-riverside-boulevard-lincoln-square-new-york Here's an interesting tactic: when the apt doesn't move after four months, raise the rent by 57%. My best advice: if you don't rent the apt after 365 days -- which you are closing in on-- raise the rent by another 57%. You may go belly up but your floors won't be all scuffed up.
I saw this place yesterday too. Emailed the broker and asked why the huge increase? No response. Husband looked at a different 2BR unit in Rushmore yesterday asking $9500 (we offered $6500 over phone based on seeing the place). Not even worth $6500. Building was nice but the apartments are way overpriced. I think the buyers got hosed during the purchase so it looks like they're colluding to give the aura of luxury and desirability by overvaluing the units.
I think I know why.
The first was a bs listing..... I've seen nestseekers put up clearly wrong prices on apartments to get the inquiries. I know this for sure because one was on an apartment for an owner-managed building.... and they confirmed all the pricing, and nestseekers had it for $2k less.
Its just bs pricing to sucker people in the door.
nyc1022,
You mean brokers would lie on a listing just to get people to call?
I am shocked, shocked.
outraged, I tell you!
ohhh.... i feel faint!
yes, the first listing was a BS. At $4200/month for that place, it would fly out in half a second.
Then why didn't it?
because the real asking price was well over $6000. When you call the broker inquiring about the unit, they tell you it is not available.
if it is not available, shouldn't SE remove it from the listings?
