Discussion about
Looks like another SE message board regular got profiled in the media, joining West81st and his Times article. Of course, much less drama in this case since it does not involve any change in claimed/presumed gender http://nymag.com/realestate/realestatecolumn/62486/

what times article you referring to?...( i met w81st; if he's gender changed, it was done remarkably well; who was the doctor?)
alanhart - right you are. I wasn't up on the Lofty handle and so hadn't noticed the previous thread. When I saw the link on NY Mag's web site, I said to myself, "I wonder if trinityparent will be in this article." Turns out she wasn't in it, she was it.
jim - West81st's online persona was an UWS mom with a love of pre-war real estate until he showed up in a Times article earlier this year as himself (i.e., male). Dramatic moment for those of us who had followed all his great work on comps and other topics.
West81 actually never revealed gender, but people assumed he was a woman ... for reasons we can only speculate about. He never tried to set anyone straight on it, so he became a de facto UWS mom.
Well, west81st never said he was a mom. People like me start assuming he was a she, and he never said anything to change that notion.
started assuming (if that is indeed correct english)
Oh, now I get it. Just a misunderstanding.
(By the way, some pre-op gender changers start out slow, just wearing the clothes of the new sex, playing the role in public forums.....and chat rooms, I suppose).
I wonder how much 'knowledge' trinityparent gained from this board? She and her husband were certainly the price leader in a building with three similar apartments for sale. I'd love to hear more about the sellers perspective.
Yep, it's me. I got a lot from this board, especially from W81 who I always thought was a man. But then again I thought W67 was a man too.
From the seller's perspective (as Trinityparent) I gained confidence in my price (was I right?) and my realtor (Doug Hennings, who was a peach.) The other two sellers were both estates: one got the timing right - which we were advised not to do by another realtor we did not eventually go with (partially from what I learned on SE) and the other is nuts and still has not sold.
Now I'm a renter and probably going to buy - on two assumptions:
1. If you buy and sell in the same market, it's a wash
2. We're just buying kind of people. We assume we'll be here 10 years from now but who knows? We might decide to drive a truck across Africa.
