any insight into the coop's financial status would be welcomed. thanks.

The building's financial status is very sound. The maintenance per unit is driven by the size of the building relative to standard operating expenses (real estate taxes, staff salaries/benefits, heating, etc.). It is not indicative of any troubling financial issues.
