what does condo insurance generally cover -- ie I understand that contents, etc are covered but what if a fire burns down the building . . . is that in the condo master policy? what if it is only my unit?

#5 you should check with an insurance agent and/or your policy, and the building's insurance coverage. generally your insurance covers you for everything inside of your unit and any liability associated with that. If the building burns down and it was started by another tenant or the building then their insurance would probably cover you; but if you have a fire in your kitchen then you'd be liable.
