I did the numbers, and they are startling: http://malcolmcarter.wordpress.com/2010/01/29/what-in-the-world-is-going-on-here-in-manhattan/
Damn it I just renewed my lease. Guess I'll have to overpay next year.
Gosh the bulls were so right.
---------------- 1-day 7-day 30-day
New Listings ----155---466----1,731
Price Cuts-------- 21--- 39-- 198
Contracts Signed --54 --176 --677
Total Inventory 8,493 -8,414- 8,106
Definitely a sharp uptick in inventory - there should be no rush to buy. I'm guessing some of the added inventory is seasonal trends (post-holiday relist) and some sellers probably encouraged by the very healthy volumes we saw last summer and through most of the latter half of 09.
Q: "What in the world is going on here (in Manhattan)?"
A: I dunno? Brokers are getting desperate?

If you guys are going to go on knee-jerk anti-broker rants, maybe throw some actual data or substance in there? Otherwise you add nothing to the discussion here, and only truthskr was funny (hilariously so, I should add) about it. malcolm's post is WAY better than your average "broker shill" post.
He needed an MBA to help him? Could there be a more overrated degree.
bjw my love, the non follow up or response to his last shilleroo opens the field....and felt compelled to step in for w67's absence.
