HDFC 90% financing

I am asking for a friend as where to find lenders who's willing to lend in HDFC coop with 10% down. Please do not patronize on how we got into housing crisis due to easy financing. My friend has been saving for 5 years and still have only 10%, even for a HDFC. Housing prices in New York is just impossible for many people. Just want some information on whether it's possible to get 90% financing. My friend has decent debt-to-income even with 90% financing.

Did your friend go to www.uhab.coop ? They usually have a few HDFC listings that you won't find elsewhere (and are typically far more affordable).

As to the financing, perhaps a credit union? I vaguely recall hearing of one based in Washington Heights that did some mortgage financing for community members.
