Discussion about 458 Broadway #8
Wow: 3000 sq ft loft for $5K. The catch is that it's a summer sublet. On the other hand, you if you have a lease that's up June 1, you could use this to bridge yourself into an Oct 1 lease when the market tends to be cooler.

Fine, call it $5500 or $5750. Still a spectacular price for such a large, bright place in Soho. Not my style with all the clutter and those damn books, but at a price like that even I could play NY-intellectual for a few months.

Hey AR, you like all those bookshelves, right? Why not do your summer vacation in Soho this year? You know, like all summer. Hell, I bet that maybe even half of those books will be new for you.

nada, interesting idea. read someone else's books for a summer in a new location. but their bookshelves look rather paltry.

our primary home just has one wall of books, with a few exceptions. our upstate place is truly impressive. and i still pay way too much so that the husband doesn't have to throw out all his earlier books. (went into storage 15 years ago and i've been too lazy to retrieve them and take them upstate). and we don't do it for looks. most of our bookshelves have two layers of books, one that can't even be seen. i like periodicals, obviously i like them in electronic form, but i still love books.

already booked summer (one week london, two weeks nice, one week rome) but maybe next year.

Aboutready can't pull the same toilet seat replacement scam in an apartment rental from an individual owner in the same way she can pull the scam with a rental management company.

Also, it would be tough for her to find a way to get treble monetary damages out of this summer landlord.

Ultimately, nice thinking inonada, but this just won't work. Aboutready's got her 4 week vacation planned. It's been a rough year this year, all those weeks doing nothing. She deserves it.

Hot damn, 4 weeks of vacation just in summer? What is this, Europe? I guess from the places you'll be going, yeah, it's Europe.

Glad to hear you've got such a nice summer planned out.

Remember aboutready's long vacation last year? Every day she'd still log in to streeteasy and post.

Wait a minute, you are proving that you can go on vacation without posting by going on vacation and posting to tell us?

columbiacounty, this seems to be a great opportunity for you to get involved.

So 4 weeks this summer in Europe, 2 weeks now in South America.

We'll put aside how good a lawyer your husband can possibly be if he has no clients who need him.

But with all this vacation, no wonder you don't do anything all day during your "off" weeks.

I hope that includes maid service. Just DUSTING all that 3,000 square feet of clutter would be a full-time job.

That didn't take long at all, even with a *gasp* broker fee:

http://streeteasy.com/nyc/rental/633480-coop-458-broadway-soho-new-york
03/17/2010 Listed by Aboveground Realty at $5,000.
03/26/2010 Listing rented.

Any chance it was someone reading this thread?
