Discussion about
In terms of the area, what would be the best long-term buy. Your thoughts? Clinton (by Stanton) or Orchard (by Canal)

kNA, I think Clinton and Stanton is a safer bet, if price and other things are equal. Orchard and Canal is a bit too isolated for my tastes. While you're pretty much on the same train lines, I think that part of the LES offers more in terms of amenities and general neighborhood ambiance, and you're a short walk from the East Village, Little Italy, and Soho.

Thanks for your input.

The price on the Orchard St. property is actually more with less sq footage. The biggest selling point is that it's higher up with a big view (not necessarily a great one though). Also, being so low on Orchard St actually makes this property more like Chinatown than the LES, and I'm not sure what the future will bring; gentrification seems unlikely considering Chinatown only seems to be holding steady/growing.

However, Clinton Street is much more congested. There's always a stream of traffic coming off the Williamsburg bridge constant activity going on in the street. While I personally enjoy being in the middle of everything, I can see how some people would grow tired of it quickly.

If your talking about 30 orchard i was also looking at that property but decided it was asking too much for too little. Also I don't think chinatown is going anywhere.
