Discussion about
Now that Chelsea Gardens is the real garden center left in New York (both Manhattan and Brookly), I was wondering if anyone has found any really good suburban garden center that will deliver trees/ shrubs/large quantities of plants into Manhattan?

Liberty Sunshine Garden Center (next door to Chelsea Garden Center in Red Hook) has a better selection and better prices. The main office is on the pier just down from those awesome key lime pies.

I know about Liberty - and again, they're working with a fairly captive audience.

But I've been told there are some great garden centers out of NYC that have wonderful selections and prices - problem is they don't want to deliver/install in NY. Does anyone know if any of those do work in NY?

Rosedale in Westchester has beautiful stuff, but I don't know if they deliver.

Thanks Lofty, I'll check it out. Have just gotten so tired of Chelsea's prices and attitude. Plus, they have the shortest guarantee on trees purchased from them - like only 3 months!!

Can't read what you posted CC - are you offering to use your truck for deliveries?

does elitist rhyme with awkward? or does wannabe rhyme with penthouse lady? or...does stuck up rhyme with useless? or...all of the above?

Still can't see what you're posting, but if you charge about $75 to deliver the plants (like Chelsea Garden) I would be more than happy to hire you.

Okay - I guess it's a long drive for you - so would $100 be okay? And, it would get you into the city!
