Discussion about
I am thinking about buying a one-bedroom apt. on the 88th street, the merrion condo. The distance between this building and other buildings it faces is quite close; so, it would not be light during the day. And the developer would not close until almost one year later. Any knowledge on the building or the developer? I love to hear from your opinions on this potential purchase. Thanks, Maria
I actually have an executed contract on an apt in this building. I absolutely cannot wait to move in. Who told you it will be a year from now? I am being told at very latest it will be Nov, but I am with the lot that belongs to the first amendment. Which unit are u looking at?
To be perfectly honest I did not like the 1bdrm line. The living room was small and you get pretty much no view in the living room. The light issue is debatable - I went to my 2 bdroom at different times of the day and was pleasantly surprised when I went during the midday. So perhaps if the light thing is bothering you, try to go at different times and see if it gets better. There is kind of a trade off - it's right on Broadway so if you had light, it would also be quite noisy, or perhaps on a really high floor, which means you would have to pay up for it.
To answer your qn on the building and developer, I have no clue. But the feeling I get from the apt is great - doormen, neighborhood, structure etc. Something's got to give, so at the end of it all you really need to decide what is more impt to you and trade off something else.
did you close yet? We signed a contract last August and still have not heard anything on the closing.
