Discussion about
So far, for the month of August, what I've found. BTW, I prefer BA. BA - Economy - $1200ish; Premium Economy - $1600ish. Virgin Atlantic - $2500ish. The Virgin looks like a good deal. I thought I qualified for some 2-for-1 BA thing, but I don't. Anyone found better fares?

The Virgin fare is for "Upper Class" (yes, the seats recline fully).

I also prefer BA, but don't mind Virgin. What I absolute can't stand are US carriers, which long ago made lobbying their primary business, rather than the provision of services.

Nonetheless, $721 roundtrip: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/bonsaiproxy/cal;jsessionid=2A6E3F8205592F8B868E27EA992CFFF6?V=M26621506314813207525&AAC=2010-04-11-12&Z=1&TBC=0

btw, I vastly prefer Gatwick over Heathrow, and double that for Heathrow T5, the epicenter of hell.

Alan: T5 ain't that bad, really. I found Delta Biz fares for 2000, but the seats don't recline fully. I will look into the $721 fare.

Ah, I can't do those dates, Alan. My vacation has already been booked.

I figured right before Labor Day for a 2-week trip wouldn't work for you, but still it's interesting how much lower other carriers go for earlier August dates ... or not?

I dread BA's full merger with AA -- the one airline I strenuously avoid flying (I'll even take a non-nonstop to avoid them) ... shockingly callous disregard for their passengers. What a fall from the glory of BOAC that merger will be.

Where's Skytrain when you need it?

Did anyone see the movie "Up in the Air" with the AA "thank you for your loyalty" (subliminal?) advertising?

Aboutready, can you post your summer itinerary?
I bet after this tough week of blogging since your return from vacation, you are looking forward to that next well-deserved vacation.

I hate ba. we're flying virgin premium economy frequent flyer miles this summer. Amex miles. a little more than 40000 miles per round trip flight which I thought was decent for business.

heathrow is awful. JFK is worse.

Better start planning for the Fall vacation, aboutready. By the time late September comes around, you are going to start feeling all stressed out, having been hard at blogging for several weeks since your 4 week summer vacation.
