Discussion about
since it has been established here that "rental agents" are the worst scum in this city, i would like to know what the opinion is here of onsite rental agents. you know, those people who work for solow, glenwood, brodsky, related, etc.

IMHO, rental agents are so bad because the pay is so lousy compared to sales. I do some high-end rentals for celeb clients, and they're not quite a loss leader, but I do get run ragged. I basically think of my rental business as "marketing time" rather than "profit-making time."

Rental agents who have a certain level of skill generally make the same calculation, and gravitate towards sales.

In-house agents, on the other hand, are professional salespeople who are just moving a rental product. In my experience with Related, Avalon Bay, Glenwood etc., they're generally quite good.

Talk to them about their careers and you'll often find that they were more traditional sales agents, and for whatever reason wanted a more typically "9 to 5" job.

Or maybe they got tired of lying.
