Co-op building engineer review cost - reasonable?

For reviewing 2 sheets of drawings related to removing a couple non-structural walls and an inspection during construction on a 500sf, $30,000 job - $1000 fee. Sounds kind of high to me. Please share your opinions and experiences.

We paid about $500 for building architect to review gut renovation, including moved walls of 1980 sq ft.
