Is it customary to tip a condo handyman for fixing building related issues each time they visit? For example if the building vent from our bathroom stops venting in.
Just to add to that post, I do tip fairly well during the holidays.
Every time? Thats too much, especially if you are generous at YE.
I think the point of YE tipping is to avoid having to do it every time as it's more convenient than doing a few dollars here, a few dollars there.
for an excellent job, i usually tip regardless of time of year
The ventilation system is required by law to be functional. If not, the condo is responsible for repairing it.
If not repaired, it's a HPD violation.
No need to tip the handyman to fix it. No matter how excellent a job he did. No matter what time of year.
what constitutes an excellent job? i wouldn't have a clue. is it fixed, great, thanks. zero need to tip per event for doing their job which they are paid to do. you want to tip at Hol time, also great.
in my condo you are not suppose to tip during the year... if the handyman is doing something related to the building i say no..
if you are asking him to do something personal, i say yes (not allowed in my building)
