Can anyone tell me if they have had success or failure attaching an awning to the outside wall of a condo which would overhang their terrace when opened. Does the condo board allow this if you guarantee any repairs to wall if you decide to remove?

Success. Call any one of the awning companies, they have stock detail drawings of attachment methods they use, which should allay any apprehensions of your board. If the awning will provide shade to windows and doors, which would otherwise exposed to direct sunlight, you can sell it as an energy efficiency solution also. I used Steinway Awnings and would recommend them.
