Discussion about
Hi. In a month or so we are having our pre-war apt rewired which will involve holes in walls/patching etc. I am VERY concerned about the lead paint aspect b/c we have a baby who is already one point above normal (we can't figure out why; the apt tested negative for lead paint). Anyways, I know the new law passed a few weeks ago requires all contractors etc to be certified that they will do their work in a manner that minimizes lead paint hazards, but I still want to hire a cleaning company to come in and "wipe down" the apartment after the work is done before we reenter. I want to use a company who does this type of cleaning - any recs? Also - how much should I expect to pay (one bedroom, 750 sq ft).

Little Elves. $$$, but good. I had a kid who tested at 7. I immediately called Little Elves, and got them to damp wipe everything. Lead levels went down to 3 in 6 months. They even pulled out all of my clothes, wiped the shelves, and put everything back. Expect to pay $1/sqft.
