mhillqt, despite my occasional exasperation with you i appreciate your candor. your feelings reflect your awareness that not all is right with our general economic situation, and a certain irony. i'm glad you got a decent deal that you can afford. now quit looking at prices and enjoy.

Mhill: no need to feel regret. Don't wash for a week (you work at home, no?), go to the interview with 10 cats.

Before uwsmom gets worried about my intoxicated state, nope, NOT drinking. Just saying (and I moan about bad trades online and in real life all the time), that life's too short for regrets. Mhill: you can still back out. You don't even have to throw the interview or board pkg. Just tell the seller you're having 2nd thoughts and back out of contract w/o penalty.

BTW, if you think that the universe is rewarding you with a market crash, nope, it's rewarding ME. It's all about me, just as my wealth mgmt dudes persuaded me to go long the market, it crashes (luckily, I am doing the dollar-cost-averaging thing this time).

Mhillqt,
Fear not.
Your purchase is reasonably well timed and you will not regreat this action.
Rest easy.
Anyone would be thrilled to be your neghbor and, you will love your new place.
Focus on how beautiful it's going to be when your done with the decor and, how comfortable you'll feel placing your head on that big soft pillow in your OWN home.
Stay Calm
Carry on

I'm having it tattoed to the inside of my skull.
It's been one of those weeks.
Could drive you to drink but, I prefer the walk.

"who is going to buy a NYC apartment now?"

I would have said "nobody with a high IQ" a week ago, till a couple i've known for years signed a contract. They are well paid and smart guys but not when it comes to managing $ though imho. Of course, i've said "congrats!" as nothing else was expected, so this is just between us...

"nobody with a high $ IQ" final answer.

Sheesh I didn't know bringing 10 cats to an interview was a bad thing...Okay, I don't HAVE 10 cats, or even half that number, but when the subject of pets came up in my interview it was only because one of the board members lives on my floor and she wondered if my gang was up to "play dates" with her beastly felines.
Then again, I live in one of those buildings that I describe as "pet embracing" rather than "pet friendly". Easily 2/3 of the residents has at least one cat or dog, many have multiples.

I think the bonuses to the census employees will bail out NYC real estate.
And they'll have such a head start knowing who lives where and cut out the brokers.

AR,
Let me know the date and I'll do best to show. I expect to be a little worn from my evening with ph41. That's what you can expect from a half open marriage.
notadmin,
So, the sky is still falling. Good to know. So would you care to take a gander on the landing time and the % decrease form today's numbers? (sales, not asks). I ask this as a once perma-bear who was surprised to be caught far from shore on a melting ice flow. Not to mention the horrendous shellacking I took from club wielding seals.
While I'm on the topic...
What does an Eskimo and a Tupperware salesman have in common?

They both like a tight seal!

btw, landing time is tough. watch out for the seals, or start carrying your own clubs. a good defense is an offense.

It's possible that 10 cats would be cute and endear you to a board. I think that a rational seller in this precarious market would let one out of a contract w/o penalty rather than letting it drag on to a failed board interview. But, people are crazy.
