Downtown's population boom seen rolling on After more than tripling over the last 15 years, number of area's residents expected to increase as families expand and new people move in; no longer the frontier. :: http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20100518/REAL_ESTATE/100519839/1059
Are they rolling on to Ohio?
Enough of the Ohio bit.
Regardless of how many schools and parks they make down there they cannot change the fact that the narrow streets and tall buildings make for little sunlight reaching the ground. I'm not sure I could get over the feeling of feeling like an ant in an antfarm down there. I disagree when people say the streets are empty at night. They are not (at least not the area my friend lives) BUT, everyone that is on the street is looking for a cab!
Well, depends on what street, but yes, gets very dark. Of course, get a high up apartment and you more than make up for it.
And if you have parks and such to walk to close... I don't think its a deal breaker.
I think when there is critical mass of people and retail and all that (not there yet, but getting there) I think it will be a very desirable area.
