Discussion about
I recently saw a flyer in my building about a proposed new high school to be constructed on East 15th Street between 5th Avenue and Union Square West. I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about this, such as a timeframe, etc. I presume it's going to replace the creepy building on the south side of the street next to the new condo. Thanks.

That really pisses me off because I always thought they should have put the new Stuyvesant building on Union Square, like on the S. Klein site for example. Instead they moved it off the island onto landfill.

Alan, is it possible that at the time of planning/building the new Stuyvesant no one wanted to put all those vulnerable genius minds in the vicinity of the threats and temptations of Union Square? After all at the time there were only a few organic products sold in Union Square and no yummy brownies...

Totally agreed. The new location is helpful for the 10 staten island kids and the kids from Jersey who can't attend. It moved Brooklyn kids a little closer, but doesn't help Manhattan and is awful for queens.

Union Square should have been the spot.

No... because it was 2 blocks over next to Stuy park which actually got worse.

not to mention, most food choices were south of the building in the e village and crossing first ave was "bring a gun" territory.
