DISCUSSION DISABLED Please stop wasting our time. We're not going to continue to sift through the endless profane name calling and carefully edit. We are just going to whack the whole thread. That's a pity because you have some pretty smart things to say.

The economics of an oligoploy.

1) fragmented suppliers, but limited in numbers vs consumers;
2) illegal to collude on pricing;
3) Strong profit incentive to raise prices;
4) pricing can only be above true market clearing pricing if no supplier breaks ranks.

So let's apply this to real world situations.

3 major car suppliers, ever Jan 1, one manufacturer 'announces' an across the board 3% price increase.
Home depot announces price matching for all Viking appliances, thereby warning all other retailer to hold firm on pricing.
Suppliers create co-op to set 'one' clearing price.

Jimnutz in all his c word using, borker babble rousing, and self serving postings is exhibiting the classic signs of an oligopoly trying to set a new above clearing market price. Congrats jimnutz on being the Joe Isuzu of the LL oligopoly in NYC! Now you can tell your daughter what small piece of the small piece of the re cog you are!

Now teach the young one well. Your views on 'easy money', taking more than your fair share, income based on bubble and screwing society for the Russian oligopoly can be transferred to jimnudette 2.0!

Actually, the market is getting ........ flabbier and flabbier as opposed to tighter. And none of this is very pretty. Look at the oil spill ..
