Discussion about
Has anyone out ever experienced being robbed by thier so called "elected co-op or condo board"? Well, there is enough evidence that the board president for 52nd/8th (multistory new development) is robbing unit owners every month to support his lifestyle. Any ideas on how to tackle this problem without a baseball bat?
LOL now where was that thread about no corruption on boards...
Do you mean http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/the-link ?
It's annual-meeting time, so vote him out. If you can get enough owners to believe you.
Sorry, didn't mean to make your problem sound trivial, but perhaps collect proof and contact an attorney.

Same problem, same dick condo president! Slowly more and more residents are realizing what this guy is doing. If I am not mistaken, you couldn't get a quorum and there was no election, correct? This same guy tried to run for Congress! Just what we need, more corrupt government!
You have the name and address of every owner. If you still can't get a quorum after sending them all a recital of any evidence you've dug up, then they don't care and you should either give up the role of resident crackpot, or move.
Best bet, as aifamm said, is to persuade the like-minded owners to chip in for a lawyer.
You guys are missing the point. The president is not in this alone. He has a crackpot attorney that gives him kickbacks every month. In the thousands. When he unit owners ask for invoices, there is no response.
Again, if you can't get enough owners to get together to effect changes, then you're stuck and should sell.
Do you imagine that the Attorney General or the DA is going to read SE and press racketeering charges?
All we know so far is that you're yapping here to make yourself feel better, at the cost of helping give the building a bad reputation.
It does make me grateful that my co-op's biggest problem is a couple of shareholders who want the rest of us to shell out for a playroom and roof deck.

A threat perhaps?
I would think your attorney should serve this request in writing and signed receipt for. No activity before x date would result in legal action... blah blah blah. Could get ugly though.
