Discussion about
Can anyone recommend any good furniture stores that make custom sofa? My living room is curved and narrow. In order to utilize the space efficiently, I am thinking about having sofa custom made. I am in conversation with DUNE in Soho about the pricing and design. They are very expensive and I expected customer service commensuarte with their pricing. So far I am not impressed. Thank you in advanced.

There was a great place in Soho on broome st, but I doubt it's still in business.

I would talk to Long's on the UWS (where we got our sofa) to see if they have any solutions for you, although I'm not sure they do custom work.

Classic Sofa in Chelsea does though.

I second Classic Sofa. Prices are reasonable and sofas done in a few weeks.

I third Classic Sofa. I had one made there about 9yrs ago, and it has held up extremely well. I still get a little nauseous thinking about how much it cost, but given how well it has held up it really isn't so bad . It came in exactly as I had ordered it, and right on time. And given how important a sofa is (aesthetically and how much time we spend on it), I feel great about it.

I bet if you troll through apartmenttherapy you can find a good cheaper alternative.

My goodness, our building has 8.5" ceilings and our main sofa is 90" long. Couldn't get it out of the service elevator to make the turn, until I learned from a porter that the apartment directly across from the elevator was unoccupied and we could use that to enter and make the turn. Wondering how we get out. We'll defer that problem.!
