DKLB BKLN 's $3,500 2 BRs

Discussion about 80 Dekalb at 80 Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene
What do people think of 80 Dekalb's going rate for a 2BR? It's quite a jump from their ~ $2,500 1 BRs. The building is 80% occupied -- but is that because all the studios / 1BRs and below have flown off the shelves, and now the 2BRs languishing? Have you compared the 80 Dekalb 2BR rent to the carrying costs for your 2BR at the Toren?

Hi Turnaround -- that's a good point. Right now it's about the same. But obviously 80 Dekalb has the advantage, better views, more space, and the layout, oh my! But after the 2 months free rent runs out -- because at some point I think it will. It might go back to it's "natural" rent of $3,900 + $60 for common spaces and then we'll be more affordable. I guess it depends on how long we stay at the toren and how much of the mortgage we can pay down. Tough call.
