first one looks like it needs ton of work, but the price is right...second looks like it is in better shape, so may be worth the extra $...really need to see where they are actually located and what's around them

Prices are not going down! House two looks better and has more potential House one will always be too small. With construction at $300 a sq ft. way too much to add on to. A new pool in either runs about $50,000 with landscaping add decking or pavers @ 22 a sq foot installed average, and you are looking at $75,000 for a nice backyard upgrade. Better to spend more and get a pool with a house. Re neighborhood. SH Shores is a working class area, with mostly modest year rounders. Hoe this helps.

regarding the home from Sotheby's above. From the pictures I can see two thigs already that need to be factored in. !. I see window a/c units.... To convert to central air with hot water heat is at least $20,000. 2, One bedroom has french doors, so it's not really a bedroom. And as per the last few listings.. NO Pool. If you ever want to rent your home and get decent money you need a pool. otherwise you might get a few thousand a week in July, like the 4th only and Aug... Buy a house with a pool if this is a consideration. The other thing is some lots can't have pools because of size setbacks etc.. The least a new pool will cost to install is $25,000 w/o any landscaping and can go to $100,000 for something really nice and or if you needed retaining walls etc.
