any heat danger from ceiling cable track lighting?

anybody have opinions on those cable track lights strung under ceiling? Do they get too hot with halogen bulbs? Has anybody tried LED track lighting? Sources? Too early/expensive for LED track lighting?

I've seen apartments with cable and track lighting. I'm sure they seemed a good idea at the time, but in hind-sight , very tacky..
