Sale at 456 West 19th Street 4/5B #45B

The North/West corner apartments are pretty darn cool (I'm not sure if that is the apartment you are referencing but from the floorplan it looks like the mirror image of it). But that layout is very much a one bedroom with little hope of turning it into a two bedroom. Actually, it is completely open to the living room, so it is really a lofted one bedroom. My advice would be to embrace the space as it is or find a building in the area with floorplans that better suit your needs.

Can't speak about 25 Fifth though, I'm not familiar with that building.

This is definitely comparing apples and oranges! Completely different layouts, totally different building styles, different neighborhoods, etc. If you want contemporary living in a vibrant/eclectic area, go 19th. If you want Gold Coast Village ambiance, go 5th Ave. If the 2nd BR is for a kid, then don't even look at 1 BRs with the hope of converting to a 2BR. You're just torturing yourself sandrita...

I assume the original poster attempts here to solicit opinions from people who know about 456W19 who may have missed the earlier thread she posted on 25 Fifth seeking comparisons to 456W19, but should anyone stumble on this discussion, the link may prove helpful.

If you're willing to go co-op, you can find similar apartments for $750k-850k in West Chelsea. I speak from very recent experience.

I am not a fan of the 400 block of W 19. The block is, I believe, mostly housing projects.

I love West Chelsea and think there's a surprising amount that's right at your door. But if you're west of 9th Ave, the subway is going to seem like a long hike.
