This building which contains two apartments remains empty. Work permits taped to the door are expired over a year. Does anyone have any info on this property? Does anyone have any ideas how I could explore what the status of this building is?

hi falco, there's definitely another thread on this somewhere in the vault. Oretty sure they've also discussed it on www.evgrieve.com

Falco!

It's the same owner as 211, listed as Carriage House LLC, 57 Prince Street, New York NY 10012, which has sold all but the penthouse. They got the land for both buildings for PEANUTS (under $300k) in 2001, and grossed almost $5MM in sales, so I guess it doesn't hurt them too much to carry the building.

Thanks ten!
I was wondering where you've been.
You know, nothing is happening in that building.
No construction, no active permits, no listings.
The builder/architect is the owner of unit 8. Unit 7 never sold.
Despite the 5MM in gross sales there still might be trouble in paradise. I've had my eye on unit 8 for some time, waiting for a potential break.

Totally agree the building's in trouble, but my guess is that their strategy is to sell the PH in 211 without any competing listings (or attracting negative attention w/ a listing for the whole building) in 213. In the meantime, carrying 213 might not be costing them any more than taxes and utilities, and they may be able to cover that w/ $ from 211 sales.

I don't see a sale for 8, am I missing something? The architect for 209 East 2nd has an office at 57 Prince. Maybe that's someone worth getting in touch with.
