Short term rentals, furnished or unfurnished

I have sold my current apartment and will be moving in a few weeks. I am going to be renovating an apartment that I should close on in September. The renovation will take 3-4 months. I would like to rent a one bedroom somewhere below 34th street on a month-to-month basis, because renovation time frames can be variable and I have no idea now of an exact date. I would love to find a furnished place and store all of my things...but I would be willing to move in some of my furniture and store the rest of the price were right. So far, I have found nothing but hideously overpriced corporate rentals (5K/month for a studio!). Any ideas other than Craigslist? I think there are a few places in the FiDi, but I am not crazy about the idea of living down there.. Any help would be appreciated.

Last year we had the same situation, and we looked at rentals on StreetEasy. We specified "furnished" among other requirements. We then called the agents for all apartments that looked interesting, and did not require a longer term agreement. Alas, we found the perfect place! Frankly, you have nothing to lose by pursuing this option.

why would anyone rent from a poster called urindanger.

Perhaps good advice, but you called the police and falsely reported a felony gun crime by your husband that was not actually happening.
