The first story I wanted to tell was a closing that I went to where the buyers rushed out of the closing grabbed the keys from the seller and left as all their paperwork was done. The seller was a little amazed that they were not sticking around for her to sign anything until she found out that they (the buyers) were short some money. Meanwhile the buyers were driving to the house with the moving truck! To make a long story short the lawyer had to sign some extra checks... quick. [less]
If you peruse these message boards - also check out www.truegotham.com or www.curbed.com - you'll find plenty of material. At least from a NYC perspective, which is VERY differnt from the rest of the country.
Question: for what purpose is this? Are you writing a book?
here's one for you - finding out at a closing that the lawyer for the buyer is my ex-wife, against whom I have a restraining order.
(didn't really happen, but fits your idea of crazy)
Add to the story - and the president of the coop board was sleeping with the buying agent who helped negotiate zizizi's purchase (coincidental that he was interested in that particular building), which is how he got accepted.
Don't laugh - stranger things have happened.
Having FUN and who know's IF it is funny enough or crazy enough considering it is NY afterall maybe it will end up in print somewhere (a book is a good idea). I love the restraining order one, that sounds like it really could happen!!! and hey those boards can be tough huh?
So I went to this coop interview, and they had like five board people, and one of them was this old lady who kept farting real loud and I had to not laugh. Then she asked me if I cooked any smelly foods (I guess because I'm sort of dark skinned) and I couldn't hold back.
