Last week’s contentious thread — make that one of last week’s contentious threads — revolved around a real-estate listing someone had posted for a $1.2 million town house. “It seems to me that the seller wants to win the lottery at the expense of a naïve buyer,” came a response. “Hope it’s a trust-fund baby and not a hard-worker guy without the time to reflect.” Another offended member suggested seceding to form a new, income-sensitive “Harlem4Kids Working Families forum.” ----------- who is this susan dominus!?!? "deadly police shoot-out" it hints to police brutality. that's not as i see it. the ones i've known off involve corner boys reassessing their power by killing each other (they are basically teenagers). the ambulances and the police show up after the shooter is gone and the killed is on the sidewalk dying. http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/08/after-some-40-shots-in-harlem-one-dead-and-5-hurt-including-2-officers/
The shooting on Lenox Avenue was the second shooting at a block party early Sunday. The police said that at about 12:30 a.m., at a block party at West 149th Street and Seventh Avenue, a man was shot in the buttocks. That man was listed in stable condition at Harlem Hospital.

ok, i clearly have to reassess my idea of the hood!
"ok, i clearly have to reassess my idea of the hood!"
Really.
HELLO!!!! It's HARLEM!!!!!!!
Duh.
Maybe what happens during late night street parties is not that relevant for gentrifiers? I doubt there were many whites late at night on the streets around that area.
Still, quite shocking for how little you can get illegal guns around here.
Yeah but you can not pay your taxes and still be a congressman and not go to jail.
See!
Take that all you LIC haters!!!
You can die of lead poisoning in Manhattan as easy as LIC! (OK...Still easier in LIC but...)
Lead poisoning. That's a good one
pay close attention to the number of shots fired and what proportion of them came from NYPD officers
