Discussion about
Has anyone done business with these people before? we have completed a major renovation, dealt with plumbers, electricians, contractors and painters happily, but this company The Shade Store is just about impossible. we started the order process in may, was to be installed in mid july, and we are still waiting for pieces here at the end of september. the promo literature says it is a family owned company but anyone know who owns it?

not sure about ownership etc, but they did my verticles and i used them for this panels that cover my large windowns. they installed the track incorrectly for the panels, and cut the panels to the wrong length. they then used clips to hold the panels together that break when you move the panels. They sent replacements, but that took a month. a month after that they came to install the clips. the clips they sent were not the right ones. Now idk when they are coming back and when i will get the right clips.

They also cut the verticals to the wrong length and sent the wrong colors. Bottom line here is that these guys suck. SUCK

Wow, I have their catalog on my shelf and I was keeping it handy for a rainy day because their stuff looked pretty good. Does anyone else have this kind of story? Or one that is the opposite?

Mrussell...throw the catalog away now. quickly before you are tempted! these people are beyond inept. But damn, i really do like the chillewich fabric i had the shades done in. has to be someone else in town who handles it though and who i could have used. never could i recommend them to anyone.
Jasieg, sorry your situation is like mine. how do they stay in business???

My experience with them was very good. One of the shades was backordered for three months yet we received it within 3 weeks. The only issue was that one of the shades was supposed to have a loop but came with a cord instead. They offered to replace it but I actually did not mind it. Also, they sent me the correct replacement pull within days. And I really like the fabrics.

Granted we had our own contractor do the installation instead of the Shade Store's subcontractors...

ananaj, glad your experience was better. our problems don't seem to be in the installation but in the actual fabrication. the first batch of cornices came and weren't even close to the measurements the installers provided. second batch had some correct...some not. we are awaiting the third batch now. can you only imagine the expense of redoing all these cornices??? the actual shades can not be hung without the cornices as they will be installed into them. however, i did just talk to a congenial and intelligent young man named Humberto there and perhaps he can work the magic for this to be correct. i really like the product but so many mishaps leave me uncomfortable about this company. supposedly on friday they will complete the project and then i will have a different opinion...

just as an update, Humberto did work his magic and the job was completed on friday as he said it would be. He was very apologetic for the experience we have had and showed such a degree of professionalism that i would have to change my opinion of this company. And the finished product is spectacular. the outer shades are of the chillewich woven vinyl and when the sun shines thru...the fabric looks like diamonds are dancing on it. really an interesting look.
