Discussion about
is the price for a two year lease typically higher than 1 year lease. I just asked for a 2 year, and the price was higher for year on (same for the two years) but higher than if I was going to take the 1 year. My first time as a renter.

Yes, typically higher for two year since you are locking it in and they can't increase again in a year.

The rental building that I live in only allows 2 year leases. You can ask for the same rent for the entire 2 year period - sometimes they say yes, sometimes they insist on a small increase the second year of the lease. Also in previous rental buildings, I have done a 1 year lease with an option on my part only to renew for a second year at the same rent. This gives you the option to stay or leave depending on the market rental prices after one year.
