Why exactly would you "like" to tip the super?

Do people prorate tipping the super at Christmas based on how much of the year they have lived in the apartment? That is, if they moved into the apartment in the summer do they pay half of what they would normally pay?

I dont know gator... I am starting to think this whole tipping the building employees thing needs a good rethinking. Maybe make it part of the next zero-hour contract negotiations.

And don't be too friendly to the building staff, either ... familiarity breeds contempt.

As an American it's just as ridiculous.

Got a little motto
Always sees me through -
When you're good to Papa
Papa's good to you!

There's a lot of favors
Your super's prepared to do -
You do one for Papa
He'll do one for you!

I am a Resident Manager in the mid 60's on the Westside. When I have new resident's move in I try and help them out and assist in any which way I can. I do not expect a tip from them. Does it happen yes! is it expected no! Any Super/Resident Manager who expects a tip from a new resident in order to get things done is a shake down artist in my opinion.
