Discussion about
Anyone have any experience/thoughts on installing a ductless split a/c system in a coop? The condensor unit is mounted outside (would be on back-side or shaftway of brownstone) and blowers are on inside. Or able to recommend a good a/c contractor to install same? These split units have fans on both inside and outside units however the compressor is located on the outside unit. Rumba air 718-348-8328.

Just a note: There are also water cooled units that do not require any outdoor compressor unit however they use a great deal of water.

I have installed a Mr. Slim (Mitsubishi) system, with 28000 BTU's. It works great. It replaced three through the wall AC's, which were noisy, dusty (or snowy in the winter time) and never worked too well. The new unit is fantastic. It is efficient, very quiet and very comfortable.
I used a NJ contractor that usually doesn't work in the city.
Go for it

I had a Sanyo system for six years and it worked wonderfully. I'm currently installing a Mitsubishi system, but only because I needed a much bigger system this time around. They are great...really so much better in many ways than the alternatives.

These have been discussed here before, and you might find some useful info:

Good luck!
