Discussion about
Jon Huntsman is actually one of the few Republicans I like and have been following him for a while. If Huntsman runs, people will be jumping out of windows at the DNC headquarters. But of course he won't get the nomination. Instead, some crazy teabagger will, and he/she will lose to Obama (Sarah Palin, Haley Barbour, etc.). http://www.newsweek.com/2011/01/04/the-manchurian-candidate.html
Scandalous
Just IN: Huntsman just resigned as Ambassador to China. The Democrats better watch out, or else he will destory them in 2012.
Huntsman is a good potential Republican candidate.
That's what they said about McCain.
And Dole.
No Democrats were afraid of McCain. One of Obama's top advisors said that in 08, the candidate they feared the most was Romney.
"the candidate they feared the most was Romney."
very good. you must also be somewhat aware that no one was more shocked by mccain's nomination than true believer republicans. romney was hugely popular and had the support of many powerful influences within the party. his sideswipe, ostensibly because his mormon faith had suddenly become a liabilty, was a truly a surprise to many who would have considered themselves in the know. i heard this at the time not from "one of obama's top advisors" but from my party hardy hillrat friends. mccain was chosen BECAUSE he was such a pathetic candidate, to take the inevitable loss to an "idea", really, whose time had come. and the real brains of the party never hoped to win in 08, they knew they couldn't, even with a popular perfect on paper candidate. they always had their eyes on 12. when they WILL win.
BUUUUT, hill gossip is neither hear not there, so what do i know
McCain expected to be running against Hillary.
Too many people have run from Mass anyway. Dukakis and Kerry are two others who come to mind. Probably the only successful Mass. politician - alanhart would agree with me - is Bloomberg who wedged himself in for King.
Also, isn't Huntsman a Mormon? Romney's religion is not an issue. He's just an ass with no ability to connect with actual people other than the College Republicans.
hunter, his religion was not a real issue, it was the reason circulated for pushing him aside. the bible beaters in dc loved him, his mormonism was not a problem until it needed to be.
i disagree with you on hillary. the clinton camp made a very strong play, and the pumas were sufficiently riled up, but i believe they realized early on that all their influence could only get them the vp in 08. i believe mrs. clinton's campaign was always a disingenuous way to leverage the vp title. the "clinton" contingent is a very powerful clan who had pissed off many elders within the democratic party with their arrogance and almost ostentatious criminal behavior. there is a long list of dead people connected to the clintons, there is a bevy of raped and groped women, no one wants that kind of attention. certainly not the king makers within the democratic party.
"there is a long list of dead people connected to the clintons"
... so according to tinfoil hat theory, is this list stapled to the Clintons, or is it stuck on with mucilage or library paste, or did they go for the Gorilla Glue?
i don't understand the question and i won't respond to it.
lucille bluth
