Discussion about
I'm interested in a first floor apartment on Central Park West in the rear of a building. How much should I be concerned regarding air quality?

We just signed a contract on a first floor apt in Clinton (with a garden) and I wouldn't be too concerned since you are not facing the street. Most apartments on first floor that are road facing seem to gather the most exhaust from cars/trucks and collect the most dirt. Backside of buildings for ground floor apts are best.

Unless the backside is where they keep the recycling/garbage bagging, mechanical equipment, construction materials for facade/roof/etc work. Just get a really good look around back there and try to figure out what the space outside your windows might be used for at times other than when you are being shown the apt. It may be absolutely fine. It may not.
