Discussion about
when putting down wood floors in an apartment should all the wood floors go in the same direction of hall way even in kitchen and bedrooms?
Andrew,
The floors do not have to go the same way but you need to break them up with something like a saddle or border. That being said we usually run them the same way and they are installed the long ways.
I like the "planks" to run the long way in the room hallway. I find that it looks odd when you have a long hallway with them running correctly, but the change is not made to run the long way in the living room. A room 25X12 with the plank running the width just looks odd.
what do you do when they being to seperate??
RE,
Are you asking what to do when the wood flooring seperates? When the wood shrinks? there is not much you can do about that
thanks primer.. not sure what causes it but the planks seperate. and the gap becomes unsightly
The temperature actual causes it. Wood shrinks and expands due to climate conditions. In the summer it should return to normal. One thing very important for those having floors installed or doors. It is very important that the wood gets acclimated to your apartment before it is installed.
"Separate," with an "a." Sorry about that, but it was driving me crazy.

Yup, you are not a man.
