Discussion about 260 Fifth Avenue #12S
Great space in a cool location however way overpriced. Needs a lot of UNdecorating and then a renov of the kitchen/bath and installation of a 2nd bath to be a 2M apt. in my opinion.
Blech. Why are there bushels of produce sitting in the middle of the room? And what's with the naked guy tied to the window?? Clearly the owner has succumbed to the lure of pretentious art installations...
Still way over priced .......nothing sells in this bldg for more than $900/sf....especially when so much UNdecorating and bathroom renovating and building is necessary.
WOW! and not in a good way!
I was just in the building yesterday (a friend has lived there for over ten years). He said that he thought the price seemed kind of insane to him, and that he had also been inside the unit and it was way 'overdecorated'....
Oy, art is like pornography; I know it when I see it.
Is this a sixx design creation gone awry, or is it correct? I can't tell.
It makes me curious what's in the closets.
But give me this over the safety of vanilla any day, just not advisable to thrust all of it into the face of potential buyers. Pretty tricky putting that rhino head on the kitchen wall beside the range so that you don't notice how out of level it is with the counter top.
According to my friend who lives in the building, the (gay) guy who owns/is trying to sell 12S evidently fancies himeself an 'interior designer' and is adamant about the design and value of the place.
mj - quite typical of any closet designer -pardon the pun - you throw a bunch of shit at a wall and invite your friends over to critique the work. "ooooooo" they say, "isn't it wonderful." I've been to these places and have borne the brunt of their breathless anticipation, as they somehow fancy my wife and I experts in the field. We admire, compliment, but never divulge our true impression. They are then left to believe they have hit the mark, when they haven't even come close. There is plenty to like in this owners approach but he has gone so far over the line as to take away from any positive effect.
What a nauseating apartment.
1.5mm and you will have a buyer...
Sold on Sep 1, 2004 for $1,360,000
260 5th Ave, 12S

Single Residential Coop Unit
Year Built: 1900
Building Stories: 12
Zoning:
Boro-block-lot: 1-830-42
unfortunately this buildings western views will soon be a thing of the past :-(
jakedavid: precisely what do you base that assertion on?
Probably the through-block parking lot adjoining to the west is going to be developed. The little building to the south is just two stories, so is ripe as well.
The building is actually on W 29th, not Fifth.
Anyone know what is going on with the hotel development at 250 5th? Seems like this building could destroy a lot of the south facing windows of 260 fifth
Sounds like it is a done deal...unfortunate as it looks like a nice building
Yes, spoke to my friend who owns/lives in the building (fortunately, in a north facing unit) - a done deal. Most/all of the south facing apartments will now be lot line windows.
Buy-bye, investment value of your co-op. Hello, brick wall.
