Chris Christie told an economic summit on Thursday that his state was a “much better” place than Pennsylvania, when asked about the tax differences between the two states. Christie appeared at a summit at Rutgers moderated by Fox News’ Neil Cavuto in Newark, and he bristled when asked why a business owner would prefer New Jersey to Pennsylvania when taxes were so much higher in his state. “We don’t need to be 3 percent because New Jersey is a much-better state that Pennsylvania,” Christie said about Pennsylvania’s much-lower flat-tax rate. (New Jersey has a marginal tax rate of 9 percent.) “We’ll tell Pennsylvania you said that,” Cavuto joked. “Folks will want to live here [in New Jersey] over Pennsylvania and have historically wanted to do that, but not when you eventually price yourself out of the market.
