Oops, your supposed to keep the fact that you want to destroy jobs a secret. Your not supposed to aunnoce it! Boehner: ‘So Be It’ If Federal Workers Are Laid Off In the last two years, under President Obama, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs,” Mr. Boehner told reporters Tuesday morning during a press conference in the lobby of the Republican National Committee, according to various news outlets. “If some of those jobs are lost, so be it. We’re broke.” http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/02/15/boehner-so-be-it-if-us-workers-are-laid-off/ And even when Republicans tell the truth, they still lie. The 200,000 figure includes temporary Census workers. [less]
Sorry, but since those of us in the private sector live under the "so be it" jobs loss philosophy, so should the public workers.
you never gonna see a bad guy like this again
cut cut cut...
There are twice as many US Congressmen than there need be, and I know exactly which ones should be cut.
Hint: it's not "last in, first out".
Performance.
Start with the overly tanned who cry too much.
Laying off govt. workers will only lead to more job losses amongst private sector workers due to the domino effect.
"Sorry, but since those of us in the private sector live under the "so be it" jobs loss philosophy, so should the public workers."
Didn't you say the other day you were in the top income bracket? How many public workers do you think fall into that bracket? Your job has less security, but you make a hell of a lot more money.
I can't wait to see what happens in WIsconsin. Why is the national guard there getting involed? I don't think it's going to end too well.
"Start with the overly tanned who cry too much."
How about the criminals like Rangel?
rangel a criminal? that penny ante trumped up crap??
he was a marine war hero...legit
Also, Matt, it's considered a highly offensive little joke to refer to black people as "tanned". Stop the hatred.
I think Matt was referring to John Boehner with his tan comment.
So sad.
Alan, I made no such reference.
I made a reference to him being a CRIMINAL.
Specifically, Matthew, you asked us to consider that the criminals are fond of Rangel ... but you brought Rangel into the conversation in connection with "overly tanned", and not with "cry too much", and don't pretend otherwise, because Rangel is not known for public fake crying.
and actually rangel cried when he was censured.
if rangel was criminally prosecutable, you'd better believe he'd be in jail.
matt, taken any serious risk for your country?
On the night of November 30, Rangel was part of a retreating vehicle column that was trapped and attacked by Chinese forces.[10][17] In the subzero cold, Rangel was injured in the back by shrapnel from a Chinese shell.[18] He later wrote that the blast threw him into a ditch and caused him to pray fervently to Jesus.[17] Up and down the line of the retreat, unit cohesion disappeared under attack and officers lost contact with their men.[19] There was screaming and moaning around him and some U.S. soldiers were being taken prisoner,[9] but despite feeling overwhelming fear Rangel resolved to try and escape over an imposing mountain: "From the rim of that gully it just looked like everything had to be better on the other side of that damn mountain."[17]
Others nearby looked to Rangel, who though only a private first class had a reputation for leadership in the unit and had gained the nickname "Sarge".[17] Rangel led some 40 men from his unit over the mountain during the night and out of the Chinese encirclement.[9] Other groups were trying to do the same, but some men dropped from the severe conditions or got lost and were never heard from again.[20][21] By midday on December 1, U.S. aircraft were dropping supplies and directions to Rangel's group and others, and had a raft ready to take them across the Taedong River; groups from the 503rd Artillery reached Sunchon that afternoon.[20][22] Overall, no part of the 2nd Infantry suffered as many casualties as the artillery;[23] it tried to save, but eventually lost, all its guns,[24] and nearly half of the battalion was killed in the overall battle.[25]
Rangel was treated first at a field hospital, then moved to a general hospital well behind the lines in South Korea where he recuperated.[26] He eventually returned to regular duty, then was rotated back to the U.S. in July 1951.[26]
Rangel was awarded a Purple Heart for his wounds, the Bronze Star with Valor for his actions in the face of death, and three battle stars.[27] His Army unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation[nb 2] and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.[27] In 2000, Rangel reflected to CBS News that
"Since Kunu Ri – and I mean it with all my heart, I have never, never had a bad day."[10
What about all of the tax criminals who sleep in their Congressional offices and don't report the money saved as income to the IRS? Most of them are Republicans.
"Sorry, but since those of us in the private sector live under the "so be it" jobs loss philosophy, so should the public workers."
They always do, Matt. And if they lose their jobs, it effects you, Matt. From your favorite diner closing because there are not enough customers, to your favorite car brand going under because no one buys their cars, to your girlfriend's pissed because her great uncle Herb has to live with her now.
In reality, the government has been the biggest UNemployer during this recession. Many corporations are starting to hire, but state, federal and local governments continue to fire.
Every job lost (government OR private) hurts all of us. We are all in one boat.
Also, go spit three times in a corner, wishing someone ill is bad luck.
"Many corporations are starting to hire..."
Just not in the U.S.
>rangel a criminal? that penny ante trumped up crap??
>he was a marine war hero...legit
Wtushy!
Listen, the guy was a war hero. But war hero doesn't give a free pass afterwards.
Nevertheless, I like the guy, and I'm proud that he has been in the past my Congressman. I disagree with him on a lot, but his representation of his constituents is genuine.
I am positive Rangel tipped in his building, so I agree with Matt that he's gotta go.
Republican/Democrat. Red Team/Blue Team. Ever heard of divide and conquer?
And federal workers don't produce anything. They are paid with funds confiscated from productive workers, known as taxes in some circles.
Only farmhands and factory workers actually produce anything.
Up the revolution!
What do i-bankers produce? Lawyers? Hedge fund managers? What do they produce?
What do transit workers produce? All they do is help i-bankers, lawyers, and hedge fund managers get to their jobs in i-banking, suing, and hedging.
It takes an ignorant "socialist" to think that job creation via GOVERNMENT JOBS is any sort of a growth strategy.
But, I guess that is why alpo has no idea how to actually create a job.
"It takes an ignorant "socialist" to think that job creation via GOVERNMENT JOBS is any sort of a growth strategy."
It takes en even bigger ignorant "Capitalist" to think that cutting spending is any sort of a job creation strategy.
Hiring an illegal immigrant housekeeper does not count as creating a job, swe.
The funny part is, if you hired that person for 5x as much, and had them do 1/5th as much work, Socialist would call it a win... because it was a government job.
There is the stupidity of socialists right there for you.
