Help - recommendations please

Talk to the super. He might be able to put the a/c in since I'm assuming you are just replacing existing a/c. He might have recommendations for lighting.

Why, lovetocook, are you assuming the OP is replacing existing units??

Talk to your neighbors or even the building's managing agent about the in-wall units. Often several shareholders will have used the same vendor for jobs like that. I can't recommend anyone for the spots but unless you are planning to drop the ceiling for recessed lights it should not be a very difficult job for a general electrician to do.
