these apts are dumps.......way below standard.

?? We have a rental listing in the Marais, and I know the building pretty well -- it's less than ten years old, has nice common amenities (including a killer roof deck), and -- in our listing at least -- ceilings that are higher than the standard post-war eights. What do you not like about it? The small kitchens?
